What happens if I miss a class?

You can miss up to two classes in a 12-week course without any issues. If you tell us in advance, we'll record the session for you.


If you expect to miss three or four classes, it’s better not to join this course!

What is the homework?

Before each class you should dive into the topic, by consuming the prescribed content. This can be a video, a text, a podcast or even an online personality test in Dutch :). Without this preparation, the class will not be useful.

Apart from this, we give you one optional speaking or writing task. If you have time, you can do it. The teacher will correct it and give feedback.

What materials do we use?

This speaking course is about 4 themes in total, depending on the group and the group level. Some examples of what we have worked with with B1 groups:

How long does the preparation take?

For a 1.5-hour lesson, you should expect around 1.5 hours of preparation. Some weeks you have more time, some weeks less. That's okay!

How long will it take me to reach the next level?

Reaching the next level requires many hours of contact with Dutch, and our speaking course is only one part of those hours. This is how long it takes:

B1 to B2 takes about four speaking courses. If you do more at home, you will be faster. If you do less, you will be slower.

Taking an intensive course is twice as fast!

How will I learn grammar?

The courses include no explicit grammar instruction.
Instead, you will practice all the necessary structures in an implicit, natural way. This allows you to speak and write correctly at your level without learning long lists of rules.

However, if you have important questions, we will answer them. There is no need to be dogmatic...

How many students are in each group?

Each group has a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 5 students.


This ensures that everyone gets plenty of speaking time! You will grow as a group. Careful, you might make friends.

For who is this course?

This course is for serious Dutch learners who are mainly focused at speaking. Don't do this course if you only want to pass an exam. Or if you just want to learn the basics.

How do I know if this course is right for me?

You will usually have a good feeling about whether this approach fits you, but you can never know 100% in advance.
