What happens if I miss a class?

You can miss up to two classes in a 12-week course without any issues. If you tell us in advance, we'll record the session for you.


If you expect to miss three or four classes, it’s better not to join this course!

What is the homework?

Before each class you should read and listen to one chapter of our novel. The lessons are 100% in Dutch. Without this preparation, the class will not be useful.

Apart from this, we give you one optional speaking or writing task. If you have time, you can do it. We work with voice messages, texts, presentations and even interviews with Dutch people :). The teacher will correct it and give feedback.

What materials do we use?

We use my (Max) own graded novels: Nieuw in Rotterdam and Thuis in Rotterdam. You read at home and listen to the audio book on Spotify. During the sessions, we speak about the story. And yes, about your life.

How long does the preparation take?

For a 1.5-hour lesson, you should expect around 1.5 hours of preparation. Some weeks you have more time, some weeks less. That's okay!

How long will it take me to reach the next level?

Reaching the next level requires many hours of contact with Dutch, and our speaking course is only one part of those hours. This is how long it takes:

Instead, you will practice all the necessary structures in an implicit, natural way. This allows you to speak and write correctly at your level without learning long lists of rules.

The courses are designed to help you learn Dutch naturally, which is much faster and easier than traditional grammar-based methods. Because we don’t spend time explaining rules, the classes can be 100% in Dutch, focused entirely on meaningful practice.

How many students are in each group?

Each group has a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 5 students.


This ensures that everyone gets plenty of speaking time! You will grow as a group. Careful, you might make friends.

For who is this course?

This course is for serious Dutch learners who are mainly focused at speaking. Don't do this course if you only want to pass an exam. Or if you just want to learn the basics.
